About
A small studio for software, AI, and the work in between.
Arcane Eclipse, LLC is an independent software and artificial intelligence company. It is owned and operated by an experienced engineer with decades of professional practice — a quiet workshop, not a venture.
Our story
Arcane Eclipse exists because the most satisfying engineering happens when you can choose your problems carefully and give them the time they deserve. After decades inside other people's organizations, this studio is a deliberate place to build — software products, AI-powered tools, research projects, and the occasional experiment that goes nowhere interesting.
The name reflects how we think about the work: ideas in shadow that become clear when the right thing aligns. Some projects emerge as commercial products. Others stay tools we use internally, contributions to open source, or notes we share with colleagues. All of them are made the same way.
Mission
To design and build software and AI tools that help people think more clearly, create more effectively, and accomplish work that matters.
Vision
A small body of tools, used daily by people who care about their work, that quietly earn their place — and a practice that stays curious enough to keep finding the next one.
Approach
How we work
Start from the problem
We try to understand a problem on its own terms before reaching for tools. The right technology often turns out to be less than you expected.
Build the smallest useful thing
Early versions are deliberately small. We would rather ship something honest than something impressive.
Refine in use
Software gets better when it is used. We live with our own tools and let real use sharpen them over time.
Values
What we hold to
Craftsmanship
We treat software as something built rather than shipped. Care shows in the details, and the details add up.
Curiosity
We follow interesting questions. Not every experiment becomes a product, but every one teaches us something.
Technical excellence
We hold our work to a high standard — clean architecture, considered defaults, and software that earns its keep.
Independence
We answer to the work. Staying small is a deliberate choice that protects the quality of what we make.
Responsibility
Powerful tools deserve thoughtful design. We build with the people who use our software in mind.
Practicality
We are skeptical of hype and partial to things that work. We would rather solve a real problem than chase a trend.
"The purpose of software is not to capture attention or create dependency. It is to give people more of what they were already trying to do."
